1. Register for AVP Grass Nationals Early

The first step in planning your trip is securing your spot in the tournament.

Registration for the 2026 AVP Grass Nationals is open, and players are encouraged to register early. Popular divisions can fill, and registering sooner also gives you the best chance of getting the division, teammates, and schedule you're looking for.

Early registration also comes with an added perk: the opportunity to receive the 2026 event T-shirt if you are registered and paid in full by October 11th.

2. Choose the Right Division

Not sure where you fit?

AVP Grass Nationals offers divisions designed for players with different levels of experience and competition goals. Whether you're looking for elite-level competition or a fun, competitive weekend with friends, choosing the right division can make a big difference in your experience.

Before registering, consider:

  • Your recent tournament experience

  • Your typical level of competition

  • Your partner or team's experience

3. Book Your Hotel

Once you're registered, booking your accommodations should be next on your list.

Players traveling to Gainesville should consider booking their hotel or Airbnb as early as possible, particularly if you're traveling with a team or group. Staying close to the tournament venue can make your weekend much easier, especially when you're juggling early match times, multiple days of competition, and all the gear that comes with playing your best grass volleyball.

We've made finding accommodations easier with our official Grass Nationals hotel deals provided by the Gainesville Sports Commission and Visit Gainesville.

If you're traveling with teammates, consider coordinating your hotel plans early so your entire group can stay together!

4. Plan How You'll Get to Gainesville

Coming from out of town? Give yourself plenty of time to plan your transportation.

Gainesville is located in North Central Florida and is accessible by car from several major Florida cities. If you're flying, the Gainesville airport is a really convenient option (GNV).

Other nearby airports within 1 - 2.5 hours drive, if you prefer a larger hub:

  • Jacksonville (JAX)

  • Orlando (MCO)

  • Orland (SFB)

  • Daytona (DAB)

  • Tampa (TPA)

Depending on your arrival time and where you're staying, you may also want to consider whether you'll need a rental car or another form of transportation during the weekend.

Pro tip: you'll need to arrive in Gainesville the day before your play unless you live really close! You'll have time to check into your hotel, pick up anything you forgot, and arrive at the tournament rested and ready to play for an early start.

5. Know the Tournament Schedule

Before you make travel plans, take a look at the tournament schedule.

The 2026 AVP Grass Nationals weekend will include multiple days of competition, with different divisions competing throughout the event.

FRIDAY: Men's and Women's Doubles

SATURDAY: Men's, Women's, and Juniors Triples

SUNDAY: Reverse Coed Doubles and Juniors Doubles

Be sure to check your division before booking flights or making other travel arrangements, since each day of play could run well into the night if you advance far in the playoffs! Keep an eye on official Grass Nationals communications via email or Instagram as the event gets closer.
